    Question profile evaluation for CS phd

    Hello!
    Please help me to know if i have any chance to get accepted for phd in USA (scholarship).
    I took GRE today (990 : 710 Quant and 280 verbal)
    I have BSC Computer science , GPA : 88 out of 100 , rank #1 with honor degree/ merit based scholarship for 4 years. .
    My graduation project was a dissertation about OCR (research).
    I am doing master in IT and Telecommunications (scholarship) (in English).

    its better you retake your GRE. Your math and verbal scores are not competitive.

    I strongly agree. Even if you could find some school somewhere (that I don't know of) that would take you with your current GRE score, that school would have a very low reputation, which is not what you want in a PhD program.

    There are places that don't require the GRE for both admissions and funding, but they are top programs that are very hard to get into:

    To my knowledge, the only ranked CS departments that don't require the general GRE are UIUC, MIT, Purdue, and Brown (Can I admitted to graduate school without taking GRE?). (It's these higher-ranked departments that have wisely decided that the general GRE is redundant or otherwise unnecessary since most of their applicants can score well with enough practice.)

    Thanks a lot for thy advice!

    I do not have any problem in preparing better and retaking the GRE. but do i have the opportunity to apply to phd for Sep./2009 ? or the deadlines have passed and i have to wait till 2010 ?

    Many deadlines have passed for Fall 2009 PhD admissions, though not all.

    Nothing comes to mind though for your GRE score.

    PhD admission wtih GRE score of 990, you will have to study in school where there is very less research work going on.

    Retake GRE and try to get 1300+ to get into school with good research work in progress.
