    Poly NYU

Hi folks, It's pretty good to see " Testmagic Forum" back on track. I have some queries regarding M.S. admission in some schools.

Firstly, I would like to know how "good/reputed" is Poly NYU's Computer Science program? (Masters in Computer Science) Is it a "money minting" program or is it a pretty good program?

I see that Poly NYU's Computer Science program has a pretty late deadline for M.S. admissions. Should I construe this -- intended for people who were rejected from other U.S. schools/universities? (Also, I'm inclined to think that Poly NYU isn't so selective too)

Secondly, Does Poly NYU have "good" career fairs?

In a completely different vein, I would like to know how "good/reputed" is Duke university's M.S. in Engineering Management program?? (I mean is it "reputed" or just another money minting program??)

I am also thinking of applying to an M.S. in Engineering Management. I heard that Duke is pretty good, but would like to elicit your opinions/views.

Please answer these queries of mine; A response or reply is being eagerly awaited.

    Thanks and Regards!

I don't know offhand and unfortunately don't have as much free time as I used to in order to search Google, LinkedIn, Petersons, Edulix, TheGradCafe, etc. Those sites are the ones I used to visit quite often in addition to doing a Google site search of TestMagic, which just now showed me this in regards to Poly:

    http://www.urch.com/forums/computer-...on-please.html (Profile Evaluation, Please)

So the only thing I previously knew about Poly NYU is that I saw it ranked #72 in US News.

I don't know if this is the same department/location at Poly you are referring to, but I've never seen a 100% acceptance rate before:

Student Statistics: Average age 32. 8 applicants, 100% accepted, 8 enrolled.

Grad School Admissions for Program in Computer Science at Polytechnic Institute of NYU, Long Island Graduate Center
Regarding the MS in Engineering Management program at Duke, I had not heard of it before, so I looked it up and it was interesting to read about it at Duke's website. However, it seems to be a professional degree, so if you like research or have any interest in getting a PhD later on, I would stay away.

In any case, the tuition is expensive, so one might as well go to Columbia at that rate (which seems to still be accepting applications until April 15 but maybe not). For those who are wondering what I mean by expensive, here's the cost for the Duke program:

Program tuition for the 2010-2011 academic year is $4,805 per course...

In general, completion of the eight required program courses would result in a total tuition cost of $38,440.

As Luma mentioned today, the new rankings are out.

Poly NYU is still at #72, outranking some newly ranked NY universities:
