Do I have a chance to get admitted at Purdue?
Is anybody familiar with Purdue admission? I wonder if I can make it there or not, here is a brief profile:
Target Program: PhD CS Undergraduate: 85.7 (this could be converted to 3.75 plus or minus) Graduate MS (thesis track): 3.94 Publications: 1 Journal under second review (US Journal) TOEFL: 102 Experience: (1 year part time instructor, I taught first year level courses) applying as domestic (well, my credentials are international, however I hold a US citizen I'm a dual citizen) Female (I read somewhere, maybe in this forum, that at some schools it's an advantage to be female) Thanks! |

You should be able to get into GA Tech's PhD program (or at least have very good chances for doing so). Quote:

Thanks CalmLogic, I'd really love to apply to GA Tech and the other cool schools however, it seems I have a GRE curse, the first time I attempted I messed so I canceled it. Today, I reattempted it, I believe there was a system error, it gave a me a score of 210 in Quantitative which is irrational, so I'll contact ETS tomorrow. Nevertheless, UIUC also doesn't require GRE, but I'm hesitant to apply there, what do you think?

So that you can get the feedback of others (and to prevent me from saying something that may be wrong without anyone being able to correct me) I would suggest editing out any identifying information and posting a temporary link to it.

I don't feel comfortable to post a link to my statement of purpose, because it's not an essay, Purdue has a brief template (Research + Publications + Future interests) I wrote specific details about the research I carried our during my graduate studies so it doesn't feel right to post it.

Oh, okay.... It seems pretty cut-and-dry then. The common mistake people often make is they get off track and talk about how they learned computers when they were five years old, etc. So you should be fine.
In any case, you can send it to me by Private Message now that I have added you to my Buddy List.

Thanks, I'll PM it!
I'm aware of the common mistake of getting off the topic. I was very comfortable with Purdue outline because I don't need to write an artistic essay to reflect research maturity. |
