Fall 2010 | MS CS | GRE 1450 (Q800 V650) | TOEFL 113 | VTU 76.07 | 2+ yrs wrkex
Hello
A short background. I was initially planning for a MS in MIS as I have relevant workex. But my heart was in CS so am aiming for that now. I have compiled a (rather large) list of univs. I have 2+ (3 by Fall 2010) years of work ex at IBM India Software Labs in software development. GRE 1450 (Q800 V650) TOEFL 113 B.E. in Information Technology -VTU (MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology) - 76.07% (Around 7th in dept of 120) 8th Sem proj at National Aerospace Labs. Creation of a p2p protocol and a file sharing application to demonstrate the robustness of the protocol. I am aiming for a MS CS in either AI (Machine Learning, NLP), Networks or Info Sec and have gone through the websites of each of the colleges below. Only a few of them have distinct courses for IS and networks and most of them offer it as a specialization under CS. I am planning to bring down this list to 10 (3 Ambis, 4 Mods, 3 Safes). Kindly rate and if required suggest changes to the list. (Also had a few doubts. Places where I could not find the course details are marked by a ? (looking for MS CS) Other doubts are explicitly stated.) Stanford - MS CS - Machine Learning GaTech - MS CS GaTech - MS HCI CS GaTech - MS IS ASU - MCS Columbia - MS CS CMU INI - MSIT-MOB CMU INI - MSIN CMU INI - MSISTM UCal, Irvine, Bren:ICS - MS CS (Confused: There is a MSCS from both the ischool and engineering school) UCal, Berkeley, EECS - MS CS UCal, Davis - MS CS UCal, LA - MS CS UCal, San Diego - MS CS USC - MS CS - Networks USC - MS CS - Security SUNY, Stony Brook - MS CS University of Florida - MS CS Cornell University - MEng CS (Confused: 1yr course ?) UPenn - CIS/MSE Penn State - MS CS UT Austin - ? (AGRE is highly recommended, will mostly skip this one) UMaryland CP - MS CS (Confused: Is the CMSC dept the right one) UMich Ann-Arbor - ? NCSU - MS CS Indiana University, Bloomington - MS CS UIUC - MS CS UMass - MS CS TAMU - MS CS Purdue - MS CS University of Utah - MS CS .:. Archi |

http://www.urch.com/forums/gre-compu...tml#post534527 (Preparing for GRE CS) I would suggest removing UMass Amherst from your list since they don't seem to really even want MS students except those who plan a research career later on. And I don't think admission to Berkeley is going to happen. Their website makes them look a lot more accepting than they really are.
