    University Selection Urgent Please help

    Hi all

I am from India and an aspirant for MS in Network Security in Fall 2007.
I am in a tricky situation. I have taken the date for toefl and it is 21 June. I have to select universities after the test to which my score will be sent free. Having not given the gre it is a bit tough to determine the chances of acceptance but still there are other factors which govern it. Please help in selecting universities where the chances of my acceptance are there so that the chance of sending the scores free does not go to waste.

    Profile

    Xth 79%
    XIIth 85%
B.E. in CS 81% (No backlogs) from M.D. University, Rohtak, Haryana

    Projects:-
    1. C++ Bank Management System
    2. Error Detection and Correction Code on Linux(Data Security)
    3. An undergoing project on Cryptography (Security again)

I'll be doing one more project as a part of my curriculum as i'm presently in 3rd year.

    Mathematics Olympiad Certification in School.
The project on error C&D code went for a national level project presentation.
I do not have any publications.

I've always remained among the top 5 candidates in my college out of 90 students in CS. I had university ranks of 6th and 14th in 1st and 3rd semesters of college and was also awarded scholarships for these semesters from college for academic performance.

Please rate my chances without a subject test and a need for financial aid.

    The universities are:-
    1. Purdue
    2. Columbia University
    3. University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
    4. Virginia Poly Tech
    5. North Carolina State University
    6. Iowa State University
    7. Rutgers
    8. Rice University
    9. University of California Irvine
    10. Michigan State University.

Please give your opinion on my chance of admission at these universities. Please also suggest some more for consideration where my chances might be good.

    Thanks.

See all this ratings are for a very good profile as urs. This would nt hold true for an avg profile......this is as per my knowledge

ALL the best for ut Toefl, do well

Try stony brook that would go as safe for u.
EVen look for UFL and Drexel....cuz thy over list should include ambis, mods and safes. U so far have all mods and ambis, for better atleast put 1 or 2 safes.

Hi thanks for the advice. I had earlier not seen the sites of Drexel and stony brook but now i have and would like to include both of them in my list.

The MS at drexel requires 45 credits as compared to 30 at most universities.

So now my list has 2 more universities.

    Other members please comment too.
