Fall '07 - Please suggest

Hello all,

My first post to the forum, though, not a newcomer...

I intend to apply to the US this yr for my masters. Following is my profile, which will help u all to base ur suggestions.

Degree: B.Tech(IT), First class with distn, no back logs ever, top 5%, well known university...

GRE: 1400 (V: 620, Q: 780)

Projects: My final yr proj was at Siemens information Systems....invloved developing a parser for the GSM system...

Research exp: Spent 2 months at the Indian Statistical Institute...well known research instn...implemented algorithms on pattern recognition based on fuzzy logic...

Work exp: For the last 1 yr, I have been working with Cognizant, a US based multinational on C/C++ and XML...

I intend to specialize in Graphics and Computer Vision...though, no specefic experience...

Following is the partial list of univs., I intend to apply...

1. UMich, Ann Arbor
2. Columbia
3. Purdue
4. UPenn
5. Virginia (safer side)...

Thats all...do post ur valuable suggestions and help me decide...

Your profile is good. Good acads and good score too.

The universities which you have mentioned are all ambitious. I agree you are in the top 5 % of the class, still none of these is safe for you. The following is my say

1. UMich, Ann Arbor - ambi
2. Columbia -ambi to mod(gettable)
3. Purdue - moderate
4. UPenn - ambi
5. Virginia - ambi to moderate(gettable)
