PhD in Digital VLSI & comp arch -- pls suggest Californian univs

Please evaluate my profile (as below) and suggest some suitable univs.

Desired: Digital VLSI systems design (with emphasis on computer architecture)

Stats (international student, India):
GPA: 3.40 (from US university)
GRE General: V 700 (97%) Q 800 (94%)
TOEFL: Not required as I have a US degree

Degree anticipated: PhD (in VLSI - in Computer engineering /EE/CS)

Work Experience: As design engineer at a top-notch semiconductor company

Recos: from 2 US profs, 1 colleague

What I am looking for in the Univ:
1. research groups and oppurtunities in my desired field is of foremost importance.
2. good assistantship and good job market (hopefully with a great home base for VLSI jobs).

Please help! I would really appreciate quick responses and tons of them.
