SWE vs CS

I want to know what you think is the difference between Software Engineering degree and Computer Science in term of job prospects and academia prospects.

Some Universities provide MS & PhD in Software Engineering also
If I want to stay in the academia and do PhD later on Computer Science can I switch from my Software Engineering MS to Computer Science PhD program ?

Please let me know what you think

Well, if you are concerned about job prospects, getting a PhD isn't a great idea unless you really want to be a professor because MS graduates get paid better than PhD graduates (since MS graduates go work in industry):

I would think so, especially if you take some core CS graduate courses (graduate level operating systems, theory of computation, etc.) as part of the software engineering master's degree. So you should check out CS grad school websites and check out the PhD requirements.
