Question 1260 GRE. Advice prospects for Computer Science.

The breakage for my GRE scores is:
Verbal - 270
Quant - 790

The AWA scores are awaited. I was looking forward for the following Universities in California:

1. University of California - Berekley
2. University of California - San Diago
3. University of California - Los Angeles
4. University of California - Davis
5. San Jose State University
6. University of Southern California

I currently have work experience of 2 years with 75% in my Graduation Degree.

Can sombebody suggest me about my prospects of getting into either of these universities?

I suggest you retake GRE and get your verbal around 550.
Good Luck.

I apologise. I quoted wrong Verbal Scores.
Verbal = 470
Quant = 790
Total = 1260.

I have been working for Infosys Technologies, Bangalore since 2 years. I got 75% marks in Graduation. I am looking forward to a career in teaching. I have taken lectures within Infosys as a guest faculty for newcomers. Have a good work record with my organization along with extra curricular activities.

I am sort of hesitating to apply to good universities. Should I only look for mediocre universities or the top notch univ's accept people with average scores?

Its difficult for me to advise a foreign student because the competition, especially from India is much more intense, but I have several thoughts...

USC, San Diego, and San Jose State are probably the easiest schools for you to get into.

UCLA and Davis are going to be more challenging to get into. UCLA is ranked extremely high for computer science.

UC Berkeley is extremely competitive and I would suggest you review their web site before deciding to apply. They only have classes of around 75 people each year with 2500 applicants!

I would also suggest you add UC Irvine to your list of schools. Are you thinking about applying outside of California?
