Please evaluate my profile and suggest some universities
Can someone suggest some universities. Here is my profile:
Master of Science in Computer Science CGPA : 3.6/4.5 GRE : 1240 (Q: 790 V: 450) Toefl-iBT : 99 Undergraduate cgpa : 3.34/4.0 I have 2 years research experience in computer graphics and computer vision and also one paper published in a conference. The problem is that my undergraduate degree is not in computer science, in mechanical engineering. I have seen that most of the universities requires some basic CS courses like data structure and algorithm which i did not complete. Most of the course in Masters I have taken was on computer graphics and advanced computer graphics courses , related to my research area but not basic CS courses. Can someone please suggest some universities where there is not such strict requirement? Thank you. Regards, Mijanur Rahaman |

I assume you are applying for a PhD program for Fall 2008, correct?
What is the research area you are interested in for future studies? Is it still computer vision and computer graphics? Quote:
Similarly, if you ever taken the GATE CS exam, a recommender could mention that in a letter as a way of showing your CS background. Please let me know which, if any, of the following courses you have taken: discrete math or graph theory computer architecture operating systems theory of computation principles/theory of programming languages Quote:

Hi! CalmLogic. Thank you very much for your kind reply.
Yes. I am going to apply for a PhD program for fall 2008 and I am still interested in computer graphics and computer vision. My master's courses are: Linear algebra with numerical method, Applied Engineering Mathematics, Introduction to Computer Graphics, Advanced CAD/CAM, Artificial Intelligence, Advanced topics in geometrics and physics-based modeling, Computational Geometry, Engineering electronics and experiment. I have not taked any of the courses you mentioned. And that is the problem. But, I am very much proficient in C, C++ and even shading language which i used during my Master's dissertation. I am from Bangladesh and I think, GATE exam is not available here. But, i want to appear GRE subject test-computer science in april, if possible. Thank you again. Regards, Mijanur Rahaman |

University of Utah has been mentioned in this forum for their computer graphics department, and they seem to be friendly regarding your background:
