UTAustin Vs Cornell Vs GeorgiaTech

Hi everyone....
I have received admits from UTAustin(MS CS), Cornell(MEng CS) and GeorgiaTech(MS CS).
I am really having a hard time in deciding which univ to select.
This is what I feel... Cornell sure is a bigger brand than austin or gatech. but the course is just for 9 months which must be too hectic. also i have heard that at cornell there no opportunities for ra/ta or internships. (basically you don't get time )
Between austin and gatech, both are equally ranked as per the new usnews rankings. but austin i think is more selective than gatech.

What do you think guys??

even if UT Austin is more selective how should that be a parameter in deciding which university to go to?

i will go for Georgia Tech, may be because I am biased.

CalmLogic 's dreams are becoming reality.
BTW:

Georgia Tech - Class Web Sites
The University of Texas at Austin - Class Homepages

(GA Tech definitely offers more HCI courses, but I'm sure UT Austin likewise offers more courses in some other area.)

Every person I've talked to who has been there said that the Georgia Tech campus is extremely unsafe. Granted, I've only talked to three people who've been there, but I'm surprised this isn't brought up more often. I met a guy who interned there last summer and he said he didn't feel safe going out at night with fewer than 10 people!

On a related note:

Georgia Tech Police Department
css The University of Texas at Austin :: Security Awareness and A Drug Free University

Based on the stats above, UT Austin does seem safer regarding burglaries. No one has been murdered though at either school, at least in the last few years.

I don't know how to say this without offending people, but I would pick Cornell or UT Austin over GA tech. I have always wondered why GA tech is ranked so high by US News and report for CS, especially when their research output is clearly not comparable. This is not just my personal feelings, but shared by a few CS professors at UC Berkeley. I can quote Professor Smith (no, it's not a made-up name. His last name is actually that common. He's a PhD from Stanford), who gave a lecture in CS 162 (Operating System) on graduate admissions (guess he was bored about the actual course material) and he openly criticized US News ranking for GA tech and USC for being so high. Of course, this is a very "academic" perspective and might apply more to PhD than the professional oriented, terminal MS degree, but if you have Cornell or Austin, GA Tech just can't compare. I would recommend looking into the pros and cons between Cornell and Austin and make your decision between them.

If I were you, I would definitely go for Austin.

UT Austin is a great school.
It is certainly going to be cheaper than Georgia Tech or Cornell.
Austin is a great place, nice weather, its also known as the live music capital!
Chances of getting aid are definitely better than the other two.
Do you need more reasons??

Cornell is a great school, but I am not too sure how the 1 yr MEng program compares to the 2 yr Masters at other univs.
Cornell can get really cold and miserable.

My 2 cents.
