    Your first example ("Why do you want to do it?") is grammatical in English; the second example ("Why you want to do it?") would be considered incorrect.

    Remember, questions in English follow special rules. If you need some pointers, let me know, and I'll write up some quick pointers.

    Tell you what--how about we try a little practice? I've written eleven sentences. Try rewriting them as questions so that I can assess the areas of difficulty that you may have.

    Here they are:

    Practice with question structure in English

    Instructions: Rewrite these statements as questions.


    1. Marika is working alone today.
    2. Travelers rely on accurate information.
    3. There are only two movies about the war that have grossed over $100 million.
    4. At night, the caregiver may experience fear.
    5. By 2030, the US population aged 65 and older is expected to increase 100%.
    6. The exhibit will travel to select cities in the next three years.
    7. There is no such thing as a silly question.
    8. Knowledge of the medications the individual is taking is vital to know.
    9. No one has yet figured out how to reverse this trend.
    10. Cirrus clouds have two effects--trapping heat or reflecting it back into space.
    11. A large classroom library that contains simple caption books and books for beginning readers is a necessity.
