I could take the GRE next weekend and try to get in as much studying as possible while taking 7 classes so that I can send my LSE application in ASAP because they have a rolling admissions process. Or, I could wait until Christmas break and take it simultaneously scoring higher while sacrificing priority of admissions? Any thoughts on the trade off? How much of a factor is rolling admissions? Thanks guys

This is just purely out of interest, and it doesn't really apply to me, because I am not really applying to massive reaches.

I have two of my rec's picked, and I'm debating between having my third recommender be:

1. lecturer who advised me on my honors thesis who rly likes me
2. lecturer who doubles as the undergrad adviser who also rly likes me, but another professor (who understands grad admissions fairly well) said he would have a better gauge of my ranking among the class of econ students and might have more experience sending students to grad school.

I'm leaning towards the prof who advised me on my thesis, since my other two recs are from well-known professors, but whom I've only done classwork for, and this could give adcoms another perspective on my app. However, I can't totally dismiss the advice of that professor.

What do you think?

Just load it up in excel (and pivot tables or use sumif and countif) or your favorite statistical software - let me know if you have any questions. The thing is, there is a selection bias up on this forum, people posting here generally have higher than average scores (or they report their scores that way), so the actual averages will certainly be lower (Harvard does accept people with less than 800 GRE quantitative scores, for instance). Thus, if you want this information accurately, many of the schools report on it, and others will tell you if you ask. Testmagic data will not, however, be able to provide these numbers (and I will certainly not be able to interpret them perfectly, as they are but a small part of the whole admission story).

Hi guys,

In Canada, most schools ask that transcripts be mailed institution to institution, and not pass through students hands

It is my impression that this is not the standard practice for American schools, as they often ask

a) all materials be sent with department name applied to or other personal information so it is easily added to the applicant's file
or
b) all application materials be sent in one package (ie transcripts from multiple schools)

which would be impossible to do if it was sent institution to institution.

I am assuming that what they want is for me to get sealed transcripts from my schools and then put these together in an envelope with other documents (eg. visa stuff) and my information. However, a lot of American schools are not specific about this, and this would be a no-no at some Canadian schools. Can anyone confirm or deny that I am on the right track?

Thank you so much, and my apologies for the content of this message. I know that this is not what this board is for. I hope my participation in other discussions on this forum as merited me enough leeway to get away with this.
