I only had 2 days to prepare seriously thanks to a tight schedule. I was looking up on the internet furiously to find quick tips and stuff. This forum helped with not only with the GRE but also with the TOEFL! I would just like to say thanks to everybody's useful inputs on this cool forum.
-------------------------------------------------------------
About the test: Well, I took it on 14th and only prepared for the speaking section in the two-day time I had. I used youtube videos for tips and the default Sound Recorder available in any OS.
I was lucky enough to get into the examination hall first. That way, I reached the speaking section before anybody else in the room. Thats another thing that there weren't enough people in my room-about 6-7 people I guess.
Reading section went fine except for the last question of the second passage. I was feeling bored answering passages like those ! Those were reminding me of passages in school ! I lost track of time and messed a last question of the 2nd passage ! Like everybody else, I would reckon future test takers to finish the last questions first. DO NOT START WITH READING THE PASSAGE. Simply jump to the questions. Having said that, THAT TIP IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PASSAGES AT SCHOOL.

Listening section was boring as well ! The lectures looked so long, I was bursting out of pee around the 2nd lecture so was waiting with bated breadth and was wishing the professor spoke really really fast :P !
I would reckon future test takers who are bad at understanding US accent to watch english movies as many as they can (with subtitles). I know a few friends who started understanding the US accent really well after trying that tip ! I never really had a problem with that accent since my cousins are from the US.
I went and relieved myself. Sat for a while and fully utilized the 10 minute break along with a friend.
The speaking section went fine I think.
I do not remember the independent speaking section's question.
The integrated section's question was:
A passage on Advanced Crediting. It described what Advanced Crediting is. A short passage, not a big one.

Then a lecture about a group of student who conducted an experiment on an Elementary School kids. They gave them candies which the kids ate and left the wrappers on their seats and only a few threw the wrappers in the trash.
Then, they told the teacher of that class to praise the kids by saying things like 'how neat they keep the class and how good they are and how nice it is to stay clean and keep the surroundings clean'. The teacher followed that for two weeks. Then after that, that group of students gave the kids candies again. This time, many kids threw the wrappers into the trash.
My task was to speak about the experiment the group conducted. That is it. I wasn't supposed to put forth my opinion on this.

There was this other question : About self-defense mechanism in animals. There are two types of those apparently. One where a snake opens up its fangs and makes itself look really big before the predator and moves really fast to confuse the predator. Then the other mechanism is where a little snake spots a predator and lies limp on the ground pretending to be a twig or a non-living thing. The predator spots no movement around and passes away.
I was supposed to tell about the two mechanisms, only.
Another question involved two student's conversation. The girl was gathering everything from the table in the library to rush to her presentation which was in the other block just then her friend pops up. He tells her how bad its raining outside. They girl's worried she'll get soaked in the rain ! The guy suggests her to take his umbrella but its kept on the 3rd floor so it'll take time to fetch it, thus she'll be late.
I was supposed to speak about the two possible ways presented before the girl and was supposed to say which one I would prefer.

The integrated writing section's question was about a bird Argentavis Magnificens. Its believed to be world's largest bird ever to have trotted the earth :P !Then, a professor speak on the passage, contradicting it.
I was just suppoed to write about the three reasons the passage cited for the bird's in ability to fly. The professor, on the other hand, gave reasons why it probably could fly !

The independent writing task's question was : Do you agree that it is important to have a dress code at work and school ?

I wrote a lot !! A LOTT ! on both the tasks. Well, IIII feel its a lot, maybe its not :D :-| About 524 words for the independent task and 383 for the integrated task.

Hi all!
I am nonative speaker, took test first time on 1 November.
Got 107 (R30, L29, S24, W24). S is F-F-G, W is F-G.

My preparation was 3 weeks (before that passed GMAT for 750(51,39)-5.5):
Reading/Listening - have done around 8 different sample tests

Speaking - did not practice at all and actually on exam I was dissatisfied by my speaking (felt that can speak much better), made pauses, finished before end of time etc

Writing - this was the main negative surprise for me. Wrote 500 words in independent and it was rated Good. The problem was with integrated - was rated only Fair.

I have 2 ideas for that:
1. Used Barron's template (the author states that ..., the speaker tells that ...+second para details about author+third para details about speaker). May be this template is not working?

2. Wrote 239 words, thus exceeding 150-225 word limit. May be this was the reason?

I need 109 and scheduled for another exam this saturday. I am going to rescore both W&S

What do you think?
Any your thoughts are welcome:)

Hey all.

I sat for TOEFL test on October 10th. I received my scores online in 2 weeks, as expected. The problem is, however, that I still haven't received the hard copy of it. Does anyone know, how long does it usually take for one to receive the hard copy? It's been a month now.

Also, I've another question, it's more related to colleges, but hopefully someone will be able to help me. I also selected 4 colleges to receive my scores. Now if everything worked out fine, they probably have or will receive the results in any time soon. The application deadlines are in March or April, which means there's quite some time. I haven't even submitted my applications or anything. So here's my question, do you guys know, how does the communication between ETS and colleges exactly work? Does ETS send the results on paper to the schools, or will the schools receive it online? I'm asking this because I'm worried whether I need to send the results again in the future, or will it not be a problem as the colleges will have my results? I don't have that much money to pay $17x8 . :(

Thanks a lot to anyone, who bothers to take the time to read and help me out. I'm not currently feeling too good, so it would mean a lot to me.

Debrief :
I studied for 2 days, took me half a day to get to know the right resources ( thanks to this forum ) to study. Someone mentioned YouTube videos for the speaking and listening section and I mostly owe my score to that guy. Those videos are the best way to study if you have got little or no time as in my case.

I did not practice for the reading and writing part, as i had already done of a lot of it while preparing for the GRE.

For the listening section, I would suggest giving more emphasis on listening rather then note taking.

Last but not by any means the least , Speaking was the troubling section for me.My strategy was to record my response on the various topics from Youtube videos, then listen to that response and finally listen to the sample response. It helped me a lot and within 3-4 hrs of practice I was feeling quite confident ( although it does not reflect in the 24 :( ).

That is about it , very simple test , just take it light :)

I asked them to change my computer and this time day change my computer with the one that was for admistrater and was located somewhen with a lot of noise. To make the story short, I was so nervous that did a very bad job on the first two parts.
In addition, I did a stupid thing and ordered the scores to the universities I am applying too before the test (7 additional scores) but now I want to retake the test. The question is that , Can I cancel my score reports and retake the exam?
Please help
