Yes, it's against forum rules. The thing is, talking about stuff like that really makes us look bad. And I'm in this for the long haul. I want to be around for a while; I don't want to get shut down.

I can't say whether it is or not. I can say, however, that I have received communications from lawyers from GMAC, ETS, LSAC, and others when people in this forum ask for copyrighted material. Even if it's not technically illegal, I just don't have the time, desire, or resources to fight the battle.

I believe the only one breaking the law is the person responsible for hosting the shared material (without permission of the rightsholder/publisher). And obviously the person downloading it (without the permission of the rightsholder). If you direct someone to a link though, does that make one an accessory or secondary infringer of copyright? Copyright law was written poorly for the internet age.
