I still have problems staying logged in

It's a pity I still have to log in every five minutes. I start to read a thread then I decide to reply to it and I realize I'm no on anymore. This is the first time it happens to me. Does anybody know what's going on?

I'm sorry about that, Rose. I wish I knew what the problem was. Are you using Internet Explorer for this? If so, what version? Have you ever tried Firefox? Maybe if you try that and you don't have the problem, then we can isolate the problem. And are you having the problem only here or on other forums, too? Or better, are you having this problem on other vBulletin forums (you should be able to tell just by the way it looks)?

I know sometimes IE has problems that are really hard to fix. I've had a couple of those that just wouldn't stop.

I'm so sorry but I don't know which version my IE is.:o I'll try to find it out, though. I've already been to vBulletin forums and I've never had this problem before.

I haven't tried Firefox because I've read an article about it and they say it has many bugs.

Sorry about that, Rose. I'll make a post over on vB.com to see if anybody has any ideas.

You can check the version of IE by going to Help > About Internet Explorer

There you should see something like Version: 6.0.2900.2180... (and more numbers or letters)

All browsers have bugs, but I think Firefox is pretty stable. I use it as my primary browser.

Rose, can you try this? There's a little script that will clear your TM forum cookies for you, which should help.

1. Logout.
2. Then, clear your cookies from TestMagic.
3. Check all the boxes on that page.
4. Click Submit
5. Return to the clear your cookies page.
6. If there are still some boxes there to check, check them.

That's the best I can come up with right now. I've tested it, but it's not really working for me, so I'm going to keep trying. Maybe in the meantime you can see how it works for you.

Don't believe those articles!! There is no browser on this planet which is more buggy and infuriating than IE.

Apart from firefox, you could also try Opera. The free version comes with ads, but its a pretty cool browser.

I just followed all those steps but 3 of the cookies aren't deleted. Maybe it's alright, I don't know.

By the way, how often should I do it?

My IE version is 6.0.2800.1106 and the updated versions are SP1; Q889293; Q837009 and q313829.

Sorry for all the trouble, Rose. I had the same problem--the same boxes kept coming up no matter what I did. I'll keep looking into it.

I'm guessing that the SP1 that's showing up means you haven't yet updated to Service Pack 2, which you may or may not want to do. I don't think it would fix the problem anyway. For what it's worth, all my computers are updated with SP2.

I did find out that this problem occurs only in IE; it's something to do with how IE handles cookies. Why don't you try Firefox or Opera? If they're buggy, just uninstall them. Não custa nada tentar, né? (You have nothing to lose, right?)

I recommend upgrading your Firefox 1.0 browser to the latest version. It might help.
