searching for a member's posts limited to 100?

Hi
i am back here after a couple of months, & noticed that if I searched for all the posts made by a specific member, the result has a upper limit of 100. For example, if you want to search all the post made by awhig, who made 2000+ posts, only the latest 100 is shown.

If I remember correctly, testmagic forum didn't have this restriction before. Is it a newly introduced rule?

No, it's been like this for a few years. The thing is, all search results (and searching for a member's posts uses the search function) are limited to 100 results because more results would bog down the server.

Have you tried searching posts using a date range? Or by forums. Either option should work, but unfortunately, there's no other way under the current system.

Erin,
I too have had troubles with searching posts from specific users as the limit is 100.
I suggest that the search options window be upgraded with a new field under the window "Find posts from..." . For instace, it would be helpful to have a field "specific date range" among other options(any date, your last visit, yesterday, a week ago...) When this option "specific date" is selected, another field "range" right to this field should appear to give space to type the search range from date mm/dd/yyyy to date mm/dd/yyyy.
This would be helpfull because I get different search results on different days, for instance todays search results for posts 3 months ago will not be the same as search results from the search done 20 days ago with a same option "3 months ago". There are other search things that would be much easier to do.
This is my suggestion, please let me know your opinion on this.
Sincerely,
GREMAT

GREMAT, those are of course great suggestions, but the time involved in custom-coding the search makes it pretty much impossible, I'm afraid. For what it's worth, there have been a few times that I myself was looking for something I knew was posted a year or so ago, but I couldn't search it because of this problem that you're talking about.
