Can't use reputation in usual browser
Have any changes been made to the reputation process?
My usual browser (WaMCom - Mozilla 1.3.1 based) suddenly refuses to load the form. IE 5.1.7 and iCab 3.03 seem OK. Running in Mac OS 9.2.1. Michael

Michael, off the top of my head, I can offer the following: yes, the process has been changed, and not for the better, in my opinion. The giving of reputation now involves the use of AJAX (which should make things easier), but also generates a pop-up dialog box, that requires a click of the OK button to dismiss it, IIRC. Something in there is probably causing problems. Let me rep you to check it out.
Edit: Yep, a little box pops up. By the way, I thought Mozilla was phased out in favor of Firefox... |

Erin,
Thanks. Quote:
The underlying problem is that many web designers don't take sufficient care to check that the sites they produce are compatible with all browsers. A lot only seem to test against IE. Michael

I just did a little checking, and it's as I suspect you suspect--they say WaMCom and OS9 have been abandoned.
What's the latest Mac OS? X? I've heard that's an amazing piece of software. |

10.4.somethingorother, I've lost count and 10.5 is on the stocks apparently. I use 10.4 on my laptop because I have to and use 10.3 on my other G4 when the need arises. I stick to OS9 on this G4 because it would be a major kerfuffle to update for little real advantage at this stage. I can't say I like OSX. The interface is very different to all the earlier Mac OS, not intuitive to long-term Mac users, wasteful of space and juvenile in appearance (probably one of the reasons it appeals to ex-Windows users ). Whilst the basic principles are the same there are lots of annoying changes (like slightly different keyboard combinations) which slow me down after 23 years on OS1-OS9. OSX certainly has a lot of features which may be of use to those who need them for the sort of things they do with their computers, and a lot of others which seem to have no practical purpose whatsoever.
