Hello, Erin and moderators!
![]() It is needless to say how much I like this forum and the way we are all helping each other, so I'll get straight to the point. I have recently started using another forum as well. I dare to say TM is better in terms of design, activity, and tools (here, when I post something, I feel like I'm in Word because of the buttons above the text - cool ), but in the other forum I saw one very good addition - a chat system. All the people using the forums who have a username and password can join and have a really good time. Also, in this way the connection between members becomes much more intense than in the forums. I can't see why creating a chat for TM could be a bad idea. If too many people use the main chat room, other chat rooms can easily be created so no mess will occur. Furthermore, a chat doesn't need that great amount of supervision a forum does. Just create a system and leave it for us to use. Only users will be able to enter the chat by entering their username and password, so no flood of spam from non-members can be expected. Please, post here what you think about my idea. If you find it good, when can we expect to have the new system? If it's bad or not technically accomplishable, please state the reasons. I'm looking forward to reading your comments!

Well, we have this one:
Live Chat And I actually paid for the premium version for a year, but I don't think it was used that much. And I know that there are a bunch of chat apps that can intergrate with our forum (i.e., usernames and passwords), but that's something I didn't do last time because of time restrictions. I'd consider buying the premium version again if I knew that people would use it. Do you know what system the other site you mentioned is using? Or can you just post a link to their chat app? |

They are using FlashChat v 4.5.4. Here is a link to the forums, and the chat link is in the upper right corner. You can read all about the organization here. I was invited recently.
![]() Could you have a look at it when you have time and tell me what you think?

I've heard of FlashChat before. I know a lot of sites use it. How many people are typically in that chatroom? I don't think our chatroom ever had a lot of people, but I've heard that some chatrooms get bogged down pretty easily. (Most of the really busy ones that I've seen are Java-based.)
If I have enough people who are interested in the chatroom, I can upgrade to the premium version, but like I said, I tried this once already, and it wasn't used very much. Maybe I could try adding the link somewhere else and making it pop up in a window instead of a whole page. That shouldn't be too hard to do. |
