Olm is almost a TestMagic guru.
Penalized for no reason.

My thread:

http://www.urch.com/forums/gre/78964...trategies.html (Maxing out your GRE scores - strategies?)

was moved to the GRE general forum from the GRE Quant forum, when the post was ****only about maximizing GRE Q scores****.

AND I GOT A BLACK MARK ON MY RECORD FOR THIS.

coyote 's dreams are becoming reality.
No intentions of intruding on Erin's terrain. Would just like to share my opinion

About the black mark, I don't see any black point in your reputation!

But I think the post might have been shifted since the quant section is reserved for discussing problems in the math section. Posts about strategies and general discussions go in the general section.
In my opinion. this is just for the convenience of members. In fact, if your post is in the right section, it is more likely that your post will be viewed.

For e.g. A test taker who has already taken his/her GRE may not wander in the quant section to solve problems. But there is a possibility that he'll make an attempt to address such queries about the test where his experience counts.

Phew! that was long. Sorry just wanted to say take it in the right spirit.
Good luck.

If that was the reason then I guess it is okay... and the black mark is a warning for disobeying the rules, and it doesn't affect reputation. Still, sucks to already be dinged

And if you consider your post long I can only imagine what you think of the gre reading passages lol

Let me explain my side of the story:
  • I received a report that your post was in the wrong forum. This happens ALL the time, and I'm sure that there are posts that are still in the wrong forum, even though I've not seen them.
  • It is very tedious for me to move posts, and there are a lot of little steps involved, so I generally just scan the posts.
  • Your post title didn't say anything about math, just the GRE in general. Ding! Ding! Ding! (As in alarm bells going off, not as in my penalizing you. )
  • I scanned the rest of your post, didn't see a math question.
  • I move it.
  • I gave you an infraction. These infractions are visible only to moderators, and they disappear after a while. Your infraction was worth only 1 point, the minimum value.
  • I read your post just now.
  • I realize you had good intentions and did think about it a bit. (Most people who post in the wrong forums simply don't read the directions.)
  • I reversed your infraction.
  • But I've left the post in the general GRE forum, lest it be reported again.
Hope all of this is okay with you.
