"Abuse Agreement" question
Hi Erin,
Sometime earlier today, when I logged into my account, I was presented with a standard-looking Agreement that wanted me to agree to not indulge in using abusive language. Or that's what I think it was... I have to confess I did not read it too closely. Of course, I agreed to it and went on to the various forums. No problems there. Now, several hours later, I am curious to know if this was an Agreement/Warning that everyone saw, or was it just me (and possibly a select few?). I have not indulged in any abusive behavior, so am wondering if I was somehow singled out for this warning? Again, no problems at all with the Agreement, just curious if it was a general thing or targeting some members. Can you please tell? Thanks and regards. |

That's a good question. I think I know what you're talking about. Are you sure you didn't see the page of forum guidelines? If it wasn't that page, then I need to look into this.
I just added something new to the forums that prompts people to agree to the new forum rules when there are changes; I'm assuming that that's what you saw. At least I hope so. In other words, no, it should be you who was singled out. If you can give me some answers to the questions above, I can figure out where I can adjust the language a bit so that it's clear that this is something that occurs for everybody. Thanks for taking the time to ask. |

Erin, thanks for clarifying. I don't think it was the 'Forum Guidelines' page that I saw, because the 'Forum Guidelines' page does not contain any 'abuse/insult' related stuff which I remember (I am quite certain) seeing the other day. Additionally, I was logged in and yet I saw a check box at the bottom and had to Accept the Agreement. (I don't know if you have multiple flavors of the Forum Guidelines page.) I didn't read the page close enough to remember this detail. I was not prompted for anything else after that.
I was not trying to do anything different than what I normally do. It is possible though, that I might have inadvertently clicked on a link that would have invoked this Agreement. I'm afraid I don't have a solid answer to what you asked. In future I'll pay more attention if I do notice anything different... maybe take a screenshot than I can forward. This whole thing could easily be a non-issue after all. In any case, I've not seen anything else out of the ordinary since then. I kept getting this nagging feeling that I was being pulled aside for abusive/rude behavior that I did not do. But it looks like this is not the case, and I actually very much appreciate your quick response. I have to say that this Forum is superb... a gem! Thanks again! |

If you had behaved in such a way you would have been 'pulled aside' by means of an infraction which would have made the nature of the offence clear. You can rest assured that your record is infraction-free. Michael
