Exclamation Studing in Italy-HELP ME PLS...

Hey guys,

I'm facing a big problem in financing my studies. My dream is to study in Italy. Last yaer I've visited Italy and I just fell in love with it.Well the problem is that the university I aim to does not provide full scholarships, only 50% of the total( EUR 10 000). But even if I get this 50% I can't afford to pay the rest of it( EUR 5 000). If someone knows what can I do about this please let me know. I've tried different web-scholarship searches but most of them want me to be a US citizen or to study in US university....
So please...on more time...help me to find this money......
I'm counting on you fellows......

Stefy, I see you're from Bulgaria?
Although your country is not (yet ) part of the EU, you may be eligible for ERASMUS scholarships.

You can see if your institution is eligible here:

Good luck

Re: Studing in Italy-HELP ME PLS...

ERASMUS in not a scholarship. It's basically an exchange student program between Universities in Europe. It also includes some non-EU countries. So, you must be a student in your home country university, and then apply through ERASMUS to attend a period of studies (usually from 3 to 12 months) in another university linked to yours.

For Stefy: unfortunately, I don't know about any scholarships. However, where in Italy would you like to go? You should also consider that the housing prices in the biggest cities are really rising for students.
So, if money is a concern to you, you can always enroll in your home country university, and then go to Italy through ERASMUS for a while.

Re: Studing in Italy-HELP ME PLS...

vinx5, ERASMUS also offers scholarships.

Quote:
Can I apply for an ERASMUS grant?

Yes. SOCRATES/ERASMUS provides mobility grants to many thousands of students. These grants are intended as a contribution towards covering the extra costs involved in studying abroad, such as travel expenses, language preparation costs, higher general costs of living in the host country. The SOCRATES/ERASMUS grant covers the period of study abroad (from three months to a full academic year).

How do I apply for the ERASMUS grant?

The application procedure for an ERASMUS grant varies from country to country. Contact the international relations office of your home university about the grant application.

How high is the ERASMUS grant?

The awarded amount varies significantly from country to country. In any case, don't expect a full scholarship. The SOCRATES/ERASMUS grant is intended as contribution towards covering the difference in living expenses abroad. It can be combined with additional funds provided by the university, by the member state or by other public or private bodies.

Re: Studing in Italy-HELP ME PLS...

This is the first time I have heard of an ERASUMS scholarship. Well, since that is an official website, I have to believe that.
I can tell you the experience of my sister and many of my friends: they went to study for 6-9 months in other EU countries trough the ERASMUS network, and their home university gave them some money to cover expenses (a little money anyway, something like 200-300 euros a month). I don't know if the money came just from the university or was combined with EU fundings.
By the way, the people I know have never applied directly to an ERASMUS scholarship. But if this is possible, I am sure that, in order to apply, you must be a student in your home University. I mean, I don't think that such a scholarship is meant to be granted to people who want to pursue directly a degree in a certain foreign University, unlike other scholarships (e.g. the US Fulbright). ERASMUS it's just for exchange students.

Hi, i'm almost at the end of my degree here in Italy and i can tell you that here the tuitions are not a big problem. I don't really know what about the international students, but usually he tuitions are calculated proportionally to your family income. As an international student probably the italian university can't check the truth of what you claimed to be your family and personal income, so many international students here just claim to perceive an income almost equal to zero so they pay a very small tuition tax.
The big problem is the accomodation. The main part of the univerity here don't hhave a real "campus" and the departements are spot here and there trough the city, so you have to arrange for the accomodation.. and it's quite expensive; depending on the city where you are, an apartament loan should cost you 200/300 euros per month and with this almost nobody can help you..
