F-1 Visa Finance - Help pls

Hi All,

I (from India) am relatively new for F1 visa financial statement. I am fully funded by Polytechnic University@Brooklyn-NY for Ph.D.-ECE.

I have the following questions regarding the financial statement required for F1 Visa processing.

(1)I have a flat worth 35 lacs in Bangalore. What documents does the Visa officer ask me as proof? Is it sale deed, the tax receipts(biannual) etc? Do we need to take original stamp papers or xeroxes will do?

(2)(a)My father has PF accounting to 14 lacs. What kind of documents Do I need to show along with pledge letter?
(b)He also has two sites in Chennai and one flat. Do I need to take original sale deeds etc to the Visa officer?

(3)My uncle has around 15 lacs as FD's. Do I need to take all originals along with the 'pledge letter'?

(4)I have always fixed savings(NSC's, mutual funds etc) and thus my bank balance is low - around 2 lacs or so. Is it a sufficient 'liquid asset'?

Please elaborate your answers.

Awaiting response eagerly,
Chandra

hi chandra... slightly late reply here...
Guess you would have found all this out by now.
  1. Firstly approach a chartered accountant, and ask her(him) to do a detailed audit of your family. (S)He will include the estimated worth of all your fixed and liquid assets including land, jewelery, bonds etc., and will give you a net worth assessment on their company letter head.
  2. Get an affidavit of support from the person who is going to be your sponsor. This letter will state that s(he) possesses $ XYZ in her(his) account enough for atleast your first year of education, and is ready to spend it for your education. This needs to be notarised later.
  3. Get a statement from the bank where your sponsor has the account. In this letter the bank manager (typically on their letterhead) states that the account indeed has that much amount of ready funds.
  4. Get your sponsor's Income tax returns for the last 2 years.
I think these documents must stand you in good stead for the Visa.

Last line of advice. Please speak to a visa consultant for an hour or so. They will enlist all the necessary docs / processess involved.

best,
Swaroop.
