My Q: Say I have stipend and extra work (say evening work in the casino or pubs) during PhD. I receive 12k stipend and 10k salary per year. Will they tax only my salary (10k) or both (12k+10k)?
I know that "Income from a scholarship is exempt from a tax charge in the scholar's hands". But in Netherlands if you have extra work, taxes will be charged from both: salary and stipend. Sometimes it is better not to have extra work. ![]() Is it the same in UK? ![]() Cheers. |
