Is Tamoxifen a SERM(SERUM ESTROGEN RECEPTOR MODULTOR)
Hello,
I was just checking demo questions of all.exams,in that i saw first Question about Tamoxifen,i checked in CPR..they have given Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulators as only Raloxifene,and question asked in all.exams is SERM used to treat estrogen dependent breast cancer is Tamoxifen,so both Raloxifene and Tamoxifen are SERM or only Raloxifene or the Question given is wrong. Thanks. |

Tamoxifen is an orally active selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) that is used in the treatment of breast cancer and is currently the world's largest selling drug for that purpose.
That above answer was cut from wikipedia of tamoxifen, and i think it clearly answer your question. |

In Lippincotts pharmacology it is given that"Though SERMS had been categorized as anti estrogens ,and consequently ,there is some confusion.The term SERM is now reserved for compounds that interact at estrogen receptrors but have different effects on different tissues .So tamoxifen ,raloxifene and clomifene are Serm's
