Morris Code Notes: “Veteran Hero”.
The Good:
This resource used be very popular in 80’s and 90’s and explanation for each major topic per FPGEE syllabus with practice Questions at the end. People used to just read this and pass in those golden days. “Management part” is still its strength.
The Bad
Seem’s like most of the information is out dated and questions on the back are not relevant to the today’s NABP expectations. Not worth for the money
Conclusion:
Read only “Management part”
Shargel (CPR) – “Fading Hero”
The Good
This is excellent resource for FPGEE. All most all topics are covered according to FPGEE syllabus, at least to some extent in certain areas like pharmacy management and Calculations. Until, 2004/2005, it used to be the only good book for NAPLEX also . One must have this book. So much information on each topic presented in condensed form.
The Bad
It strength is its weakness. Having said, it used to be same book for NAPLEX, you don’t know where to stop. For FPGEE, you need to really narrow down your focus on each topic. Other wise you will be like swimming in an ocean.
Conclusion
You can use CPR as “Reference book” only and must have book
Dr. Dutta Book: “Raising Hero”
The Good:
Excellent book with practice Questions for each topic according to revised (new) syllabus (2006) by NABP. Questions are designed from basic to advanced level, so that you get good grip at the end of each chapter. Very good exercise to read this book. So that your brain will be tuned to “FPGEE” type of questions and makes your life easy when you are writing actual exams.
The bad
No management Questions. Management Questions are a chunk of Questions you get in second half of your exam
The Conclusion:- Must have book. Preferred to use with CPR (shargel) .
Lipincots pharmacology: “The Starter”
The Good
Excellent resource for pharmacology. It explains nicely theories and principles of clinical pharmacology with clear and nice diagrams. Reading first few chapters are always advisable.
The bad
Only for basics for clinical pharmacology Not a complete resource for all topics per syllabus.
Conclusion
Very good book to start your preparation. Read this book before you read pharmacology related topics.
Katzung pharmacology:- “Clinical Hero”
The Good
Very good book for in-depth information clinical pharmacology with questions at the end of each chapter.
The bad
Too much information and consumes so much of your valuable time.
Conclusion
Read this book only if you have enough time in hand.
Mannon sharoff books : ”The fillers”
The Good
Nicely organized “very basic” information for certain repeated topics of the exam. If you do not have this book, you need to do homework to collect the information. They did your home work and presented like a “notes”. Practice questions books are designed to give you l idea of FPGEE types of questions for some topics.
The bad
Not a complete resource to depend for fpgee. The coverage of topics are very much limited and designed per old syllabus. .
Conclusion
handy resource to save your time
I have dr. dutta book 3rd edition . If any one interested send me private message
