My FPGEE Experience
Thank God I passed the October 2009 FPGEE with a score of 124. I just wanted to share with future test takers my experience for FPGEE.
Study Materials: 1- Comprehensive Pharmacy Review (I studied it once and reviewed it once as well, leaving the OTC chapters and the Nuclear Pharmacy). It was a must for me as I referred to it for all parts of the blueprint, including Part 3. 2- Manan Shroff management (A must for me as well as I had no idea about the US health care system. I read it twice and studied it once. I tried to understand the concepts rather than memorizing them. The book is not very reader-friendly but when you read it for the second time you will start understanding it quite well). 3- Manan Shroff 1000 Q&A (I used to answer around 50 questions/day during my revision, I didn't memorize the questions as I knew they were mostly outdated and I didn't care much about the calculation questions in the book either as I knew that they were just too difficult to be in the real test). In my opinion, probably the main disadvantage about this book is that the questions are either too easy or too difficult. *I'm a fresh graduate and that helped me a lot with the basics. If it's been a while since you've graduated, you could refer to any book that covers pharmacy basics as a supplement to the above mentioned books Standard Books and Materials recommended by other test takers but I didn't use (I'm not opposing these books but I'll just mention why I didn't use them): 1- Lippincott's Pharmacology (As I referred to CPR for pharmacology) 2- Dutta's book (I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that I'm not 100% sure I would gain benefit of. 3- Remington (I had the book on a CD and if I had the time I would have looked up ethics, biostatistics and read some parts of management from it) 4- Manan Shroff Theory (As I referred to CPR as my main study source) 5- Manan Shroff Calculation Q&A (I had the book on a CD but I considered it useless because I thought that the questions was too difficult) 6- Manan Shroff Management Q&A (As I thought that the management theory book was enough) 7- Pre-FPGEE (I was going to take it to get an idea about the questions but I ran out of time during revision and thought that taking it will be disappointing for me rather than encouraging as I wasn't ready for it) As for online courses with Dr. you know who, I did not refer to it and I'm glad I didn't because I believe that at some point in our lives we should start depending on ourselves and not on a course. Even though I'm against the course, I mean no offense for those taking it. Study Time: 3 and a half months of studying + 1 and a half months revision, total of 5 months Hope this information helps future test takers, and if anybody has any questions concerning studying for the FPGEE I'll be glad to answer them. I wish you all the best of luck and success Keffaz Last edited by keffaz : 2009 November 2nd at 04:01 PM. |

Has anyone from those who wrote the FPGEE on October the 1st 2009 gotten any internship position yet? I am struggling to get anything. All these internet submission, none of the chains respond.
What is a guy supposed to do? Please if anyone is in the Wisconsin area and has had luck, share your experience with others. It's very disheartening after going through all the torture of FPGEE and toefl ibt just to find out no one seems to take us for the internship any way. |
