Thumbs up Query regarding FPGEE information for a registered Australian Pharmacist

Hi,
I would be extremely happy if some one could please help me with few of my queries. I am a Pharmacy graduate from India (Completed after 2002), and has completed a Masters degree from Australia. In between I also cleared APEC stage one examination. I haven't started the trainee ship position still. But currently, I wish to write FPGEE examination. My queries are:
  • Am I eligible to write FPGEE examination?
  • Will the Australian Masters degree (2 years+ one more year) count as the fifth year of study?
  • Is there any benefit in completing the APEC stage 2 examinations?? Or else in another way is there any benefit in a becoming registered pharmacist of Australia?
  • If else I need to study more, how long do you reckon that I should study in US?
I sincerely hope some one would help me in getting the answer.

Thank You very much,
With Sincere appreciation,

Curious guy

In your case, unfortunately I'd say you are not eligible. US wants foreign pharmacists to have completed at least 5 years of CONTINUOUS study that leads to license in ONE country. You should've taken a single five year pharmacy degree program in just one country. I am definitely sure about this as I called and even sent them a letter about this in the past, not too long ago.
I've seen some people in other forums where they had a 4 yr pharmacy degree with a masters in some other pharmacy related field. However, taking a grduate degree does not help.

You may have to look for PharmD programs to become licensed in US.

And perhaps you need to get a license first from the country where you are willing to practice.

Hope this helps.

I think you are eligible since you graduated from BS Pharmacy in India in 2002. The 5 year requirement applies to those who graduated on or after Janiuary 2003. Better check with the NABP bulletin regarding this. www.nabp.net/ftpiles/bulletins/FPGECApRegBulletin.pdf

Curious guy is saying he graduated AFTER 2002. So the earliest month he might have graduated is January 2003, where 5 year rule applies.
