Post "Electronic Mails" -- Please rate my essay.

The argument above concludes that because of low cost and high speed e-mails can resolve the problem of corporate communication. However, the aforementioned argument suffers three basic flaws.

First, the author fails to address the data security threat that comes in as part and parcel of electronic technology. Electronic mails are always been a easy target for the hackers. As the data flows freely over the internet, it can easily be traced to extract the information it carries. There have been many instances in history were the companies have to suffer severe losses due to these so called electronic means of communication.

Second, there is a restriction on the type of information/data that can be transferred electronically. The physical properties such as, touch, feel etc. cannot be transferred over emails. For instance, a marketing manager of paper manufacturing unit wants to send paper samples to his client. But, he cannot send those samples electronically as they will not be transferred physically. Therefore, e-mails are restricted mode of communication.

Third, author has not said any thing about the practical constraints electronic means of communication. The speed and cost of electronic data transfer depends upon various equipments such as, e-mail servers, modems, hardware and other network devices. Against a general assumption, these equipments are not very cheap.

In sum, the argument is not very convincing as it stands. Author should weigh and analyse above-mentioned viewpoints before drawing any conclusion about the efficiency of electronic communication in solving communication problems.
