please grade this argument
The following appeared in an article in a health and fitness magazine.
“Laboratory studies show that Saluda Natural Spring Water contains several of the minerals necessary for good health and that it is completely free of bacteria. Residents of Saluda, the small town where the water is bottled, are hospitalized less frequently than the national average. Even though Saluda Natural Spring Water may seem expensive, drinking it instead of tap water is a wise investment in good health.” Discuss how well reasoned . . . etc. The author concludes that saluda Natural Spring Water may seem expensive, drinking it instead of tap water is a wise investment to health because Residents of Saluda, the small town where the water is bottled, are hospitalized less frequently than the national average. The author's line of reasoning is that Laboratory studies show that Saluda Natural Spring water contains several of the minerals necessary for good health & that it is completely free from bacteria. first of all the author's conclusion that the Saluda Natural Spring Water is a wise investment to health is based on questionable assumption that the article in health & fitness magazine is unbiased. It's possible that to improve the sell of their mineral water , the manufacturer of Saluda Natural Spring Water has published the advertisement cum article in the health magazine. 2nd the author has not explain how the health of the people of saluda where mineral water is manufactured related to the mineral water, because the author has no evidence that Saluda people drink the water of that Natural spring. It is possible that those people are drinking tap water because that natural spring is far away from that location so mineral water is just bottled there, it's not required that spring itself is in Saluda. 3rd the author has not mention that not only minerals but also some vitamins are required for good health. the tap water also contain enough minerals. the author seems to think that all people who are hospitalized are suffered from the decease cause by the water only, people who injured or have different complexion are also hospitalized. so fact that Saluda people are hospitalized less frequently than the national average is not true indicator in drawing the given conclusion. last but not least the author view that drinking it instead of tap water is a wise investment in good health seems little biased because even the tap water can be made bacteria free by boiling it above 100 degree C & then cooling the steam of the water, so there is no need to pay high amount of money to get bacteria free water. More over there is no point to think that tap water is not bacteria free In nutshell, author's conclusion that saluda Natural Spring Water may seem expensive, drinking it instead of tap water is a wise investment to health based on the reasoning Laboratory studies show that Saluda Natural Spring water contains several of the minerals necessary for good health & that it is completely free from bacteria is invalid because the author fails to consider the above mention flaws in reasoning. ![]() |

Your reasoning is good.
But there are quite a few grammatical mistakes. For ex, "author has not mention","the author seems to think that all people who are hospitalized are suffered from the decease cause by the water only" Also, there were a few repetitive points. |
