"Although the modern information age has opened up channels of communication that never before existed, it, paradoxically, has destroyed the foundation of community by isolating individuals in a technological world that involves little real human interaction."

Although the modern information age is considered as best of all ages for creating various communication channels and some experts object to the statement that it introduced communication channels not a single individual dreamed before, I agree with the above statement because while modern information age opened up new channels of communication, at the same time it closed basic interaction opportunities of individuals and placed tools between individuals, dropping the effectiveness of overall communication quality.

First, face to face communication between individuals is the most important aspect of individual's self development since mankind's first day on the earth. In order for one to one hundred percent feel the other one, he or she desperately needs have an eye contact. According to a article published in Financial Times recently, individuals who married after meeting on online date platforms tend to divorce in much higher rates than couple who met by classic ways.

Second, communication between individuals has never been simply exchanging thoughts. Humans have five recognized senses. Visual contact is the most important of those senses when communicating with other individuals. For example, according to an experience held in Princetion University, students that prepare for exams with online courses on average score less than students prepare in-classes.

In conclusion, while new channels of communication benefit individuals, closing existing channels obviously hurt individuals self development and communication quality.
