Please rate the issue essay
“Business relations are infected through and through with the disease of short-sighted motives. We are so concerned with immediate results and short-term goals that we fail to look beyond them.”
Assuming that the term “business relations” can refer to the decisions and actions of any organization — for instance, a small family business, a community association, or a large international corporation — explain the extent to which you think that this criticism is valid. In your discussion of the issue, use reasons and/or examples from your own experience, your observation of others, or your reading. The issue states that the businesses are concerned over short sighted and immediate results and thus have their decisions and actions are affected. From a business point of view this is an issue inherent in every group and even at an organization level. While a group maintains its stance on such a criticism is invalid and is a hasty generalization, another cordially accepts the claim made above. A thorough analysis of both the groups’ reasoning must be made to arrive at a decision on the above issue. A real time example is the one which I faced in my organization, an IT product is usually tested by the customer to check for the conformance to their standards and functionality. While doing so, a customer points out a variety of changes that needs to be implemented as a part of the product, when such an issue is encountered, it needs an immediate result as the organization’s pride and revenue is at stake. In such a situation, there are two roads which are left to the choice of a decision maker, An adept Manager, arrives at a conclusion for the issue after consulting with the development team and then commits to a suitable deadline, but such a case is not followed in every organization or manager. In order to win the appreciation of the client, most of the managers tend to under quote the timeline necessary for the end product, while such a decision might in turn affect the relations with the clients. The same issue could be found in many of the active competitors in the commercial market. Most of the organization launches a unique product after much market and product analysis, and makes it a grand success. While such an event occurs, a rival company of the organization feels threatened and in turn arrives at a product within a very short time frame to stay in the market. What these companies fails to realize is that, such a fast paced growth and gaining the market share within a short period of time, occurs only in fantasy stories and not even close to real life. While the group supporting the issue stated might have a lot of points to add, they might not effectively rebuke the ones stated above. “Rome was not built in a day”, and neither is any achievement, any short term goal should cascade on to build a huge empire but should not at any time threaten the organization’s current stance in the market. |

The structure of the argument is very good, i.e it flows nicely. There are a few grammatical errors here and there, make sure you have five mins to correct those. Great example, enabled you to make a strong point. All in all, I'm not an expert or anything but I'd rate it .... 5.5.
Btw... the saying goes, "Rome wasn't built over night." |
