134. “Although many people object to advertisements and solicitations that intrude into their lives through such means as the telephone, the Internet, and television, companies and organizations must have the right to contact potential customers and donors whenever and however they wish.”

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

The issue of weather the companies and organizations be allowed to contact the potential customers through intrusive channels is a controversial and sensitive one. The issue has invited lively debates in coffee houses and government offices. While the advertising companies do make a case for such invasions into people’s lives, I believe such arguments do not hold much water. In the course of this essay, I shall build a case against the stimulus.

Firstly, the advertising companies need to understand that if the customers need something they will surely come to the market or contact your easily accessible touch points. Unnecessarily bothering people with details of things they do not wish to know about only brings them disquietude. It is a source of discomfort to see your e-mail inbox replete with unsolicited mails. The mired telephone calls when one is in the midst of an important meeting or special engagements only cause discomfort.

Secondly, I strongly believe this mode of advertisement is an invasion of privacy. No organisation or company is entitled to do so. The issue is larger when juxtaposed with questions of cyber security. Many people buy online and provide sensitive information such as their credit card details. One has no idea how such companies acquire the email, postal address details about potential customers. If such practices are allowed to continue unabated, chances of fraud and cyber crimes are likely to increase many fold.

While opponents would like to argue that this is a potent means of increasing sales and customer base, I believe there are more legitimate ways of doing that. If the companies were to spend all this money in making themselves more accessible and increasing their brand values, the customers would throng to them. Most importantly, if the quality goods/services are provided for a reasonable price, customer base would multiply faster than imagination.

A proposal here can be to advertise to only those patrons who solicit such advertisements. It is probable that most people will pick some of their favorite brands/ items to be intimated about. This is justified since most people who are disinterested in certain products would most likely not even glance at the ads that they deem unnecessary. This way the companies would also save themselves some mullah by not having to make any wasteful efforts.

In conclusion, I would reiterate there is no justification for hacking people’s privacy in the name of advertisements and solicitations. It only decimates general happiness and adds some trifle in the coffers of the greedy firms while contributes little to the common good of all.

Looking at couple of your essays, I feel that your essays generally have good stucture, along with the usage of good vocabulary. I feel, however, that you need to eliminate grammatical mistakes to make them better.
