tirumalai
“Some experts maintain that students learn best in a highly structured environment, one that emphasizes discipline, punctuality, and routine. Others insist that educators, if they are to help students maximize their potential, ought to maintain an atmosphere of relative freedom and spontaneity.” Explain your position on the issue of structure versus freedom in an ideal learning environment. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading. The issue of weather a structured environmet is ideal for teaching students or a atmosphere of relative freedom and spontaneity is best for students is a contoversial one. On one hand descipline and punctuality teaches a student by being more organized , on the other hand freedom and spontaneity teaches a student to rely on ones instincts. In the final analysis believe that a structured environment goes a long way in helping students learn better. A stuctured environmet is like a framework and teaches a person to move within the frames relims , trimming every step that attempts to cross it.While if freedom rules the student learns by his/her own mistakes and do not get the advantage of the predetermined framework that descipine and puntlaity provides. In a structured instition the students are taught the value of time and the rules that will govers them in future to adapt to the society and the world as a whole. A structured socity teaches the difference between right and wrong , good and bad and theus installs in a student the software to analyse any situation making him more organized. The worlds top institutions of the likes of Haward and Ross, where punctuality and disciplie rules, produce great scholars who have helped in making our lifes better and more comfortable with there inventions in science or in any other field. An organized and stuctured institution like the army works with more efficiency and ease. Starting from the most developed societies in humans to the societies of as small a insect as the ant relies on a decipline, proving the fact that it is easier to survive in a well stuctured and organized society. For all these reasons i therefore believe that students learn best in a highly structured environment , where discipile and routine overrules.
