    Chairman of Coproration (1000CR)

Below is an excerpt from a letter that was sent by the chairman of a corporation to the stockholders.

A number of charges have been raised against me, some serious, some trivial. Individuals seeking to control the corporation for their own purposes have demanded my resignation. Remember that no court of law in any state has found me guilty of any criminal offense whatsoever. In the American tradition, as you know, an individual is considered innocent until proven guilty. Furthermore, as the corporations's unbroken six year record of growth will show, my conduct of my official duties as chairman has only helped enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder.

Whic of the following can be properly inferred from the excerpt?

    a. The chairman believes that all those who have demanded his resignation are motivated by desire to control the corporation for their own purposes.

    b. Any misdeeds that the chairman may have committed were motivated by his desire to enhance the success of the corporation.

    c. The chairman is innocent of any criminal offence.

    d. The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years.

    e. Any legal proceedings against the chairman have resulted in his acquittal.

    Please explain options.

    Here is how I did:

    a. Restates a fact in the argument. No conclusion.
    b. Explains why he might have acted - my choice.
    c. Beyond scope - "innocent of any criminal offense".
    d. Restates a fact.
    e. Nothing is mentioned about his aquittal. Can't infer.

    OA is D.

B talks abt "misdeeds" which is no where mentioned in the para... n v cant conclude that even if he did something, it was a misdeed...

WRT D "Furthermore, as the corporations's unbroken six year record of growth will show, my conduct of my official duties as chairman has only helped enhance the success of the corporation, and so benefited every stockholder. "
This shows that "The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years"
" Defeat should never be a source of discouragement, but rather a fresh stimulus "

    b. Any misdeeds that the chairman may have committed were motivated by his desire to enhance the success of the corporation. - assumption - as yet to proven

    c. The chairman is innocent of any criminal offence. - not necessarily true - yet to be proven

    d. The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years. - inline with conclusion as it restates the fact

    e. Any legal proceedings against the chairman have resulted in his acquittal. - not true - it's yet to be proven

    D for me.

    a. The chairman believes that all those who have demanded his resignation are motivated by desire to control the corporation for their own purposes. [all , never stated that every one has desire]

    b. Any misdeeds that the chairman may have committed were motivated by his desire to enhance the success of the corporation. [not relevant]

    c. The chairman is innocent of any criminal offence. [Court still didnot find that he is guilty doesnot mean he is innocent]

    d. The corporation has expanded steadily over the past six years. [sounds good to me]

    e. Any legal proceedings against the chairman have resulted in his acquittal. [not yet concluded]

    a. Restates a fact in the argument. No conclusion.
