Prostrate cancer
In Rubaria, excellent health care is available to virtually the entire population, whereas very few people in Terland receive adequate medical care. Yet, although the death rate for most diseases is higher in Terland than in Rubaria, the percentage of the male population that dies from prostate cancer is significantly higher in Rubaria than in Terland. Which of the following, if true, most helps to explain the disparity between the prostate cancer death rate in Rubaria and Terland? A. Effective treatment of prostate cancer in its early stages generally requires medical techniques available in Rubaria but not in Terland. B. Most men who have prostate cancer are older than the average life expectancy for male inhabitants of Terland. C. Being in poor general health does not increase one’s risk of developing prostate cancer. D. It is possible to decrease one’s risk of getting prostate cancer by eating certain kinds of foods, and such foods are more readily available in Rubaria than in Terland. E. Among men in Rubaria, the death rate from prostate cancer is significantly higher for those who do not take full advantage of Rubaria’s health care system than for those who do. |

IMO B.
Let average male expectancy in Terland = 70 As per premise , age of men with cancer is Rubraria >70, implies most men are on the verge of death in Rubaria. This makes the number of Deaths in Rubaria due to Cancer higher than Terland |

Which of the following, if true, most helps to explain the disparity between the prostate cancer death rate in Rubaria and Terland? A. Effective treatment of prostate cancer in its early stages generally requires medical techniques available in Rubaria but not in Terland. – out of scope B. Most men who have prostate cancer are older than the average life expectancy for male inhabitants of Terland. – correct answer. Along with excellent health care that explains for longer lives in Rubaria, this statement also proves that “most” men affected by prostate cancer are older than the avg age of Terlandians. C. Being in poor general health does not increase one’s risk of developing prostate cancer.—generalized statement – does not help D. It is possible to decrease one’s risk of getting prostate cancer by eating certain kinds of foods, and such foods are more readily available in Rubaria than in Terland. – this explains the resolution and not the cause E. Among men in Rubaria, the death rate from prostate cancer is significantly higher for those who do not take full advantage of Rubaria’s health care system than for those who do.—This statement ties the death rate with health care – we are unsure about this relation from the argument

My approach: after reading the question i immediately thought that one of the answers will releave the dependency of Prostate Cancer with Health Facilities and give another reason for the high rate of cancer.
A,D,E were either out of scope or negated the finding. Between B and C, C mentions that general health is nothing to do with prostrate cancer so this was the hypothesis I was looking for. I marked C. But now I feel B was a more appropriate option after reading the explanations above. |

My ans B. only B explains that men in Rubaria live longer and there pass the age (say 45 yrs) when men get prostrate cancer whereas the avg age of men who live in Terland is less than this age i.e. 45 yrs. so men in Terland die for other cause than prostrate cancer.
