A. whoever first observed something inconsistent with the truth of the Ptolemaic

B. there are some possible observations that would be inconsistent with the account
given by the Copernican theory but consistent with the account given by the
Ptolemaic theory
C. the Ptolemaic and Copernican theories, being inconsistent, cannot both be based
on exactly the same evidence
D. numerous counterexamples were necessary in order to show the Ptolemaic theory

E. the Ptolemaic and Copernican theories, being inconsistent, cannot both be false

IMO C
Hi,

I still think the answer is B....Here the question is not about weakening or strengthening the argument. Its asking about the assumption......Its asking about the assumption made in order that the argument is stated as above...

E is the correct ans.
Its a Flaw of Reasoning question. We are asked to find out the flaw in the reasoning of the argument. And E is the only option which mentions the correct flaw in the argument.

GT -> PT X

PT X CT

=> GT = = CT

Here Both the CT and the PT hav inconsistency and since one theory is one of them , the author hav wronfly assumed that it will be consistent with the other.........

Problem of gap in reasoning

.......i hope now there are no doubts in answer.......for the sake of repetition its E......

Any questions pl.........
