One more from 1000 CR
When people predict that certain result will not take place unless a certain action is taken, they believe that they have learned that the prediction is correct when the action is taken and the result occurs. On reflection, however, it often becomes clear that the result admits of more than one interpretation.
Which of the following, if true, best supports the claims above? (A) Judging the success of an action requires specifying the goal of the action. (B) Judging which action to take after a prediction is made requires knowing about other actions that have been successful in similar past situations. (C) Learning whether a certain predictive strategy is good requires knowing the result using that strategy through several trials. (D) Distinguishing a correct prediction and effective action from an incorrect prediction and ineffective action is often impossible. (E) Making a successful prediction requires knowing the facts about the context of that prediction. |

IMO C or D
Well the question shows that often we take the fish bone structure ( Cause effect relation ships ) very rigidly and positively, But there are some inherent uncertainties which are reflected in the realistic world.......... and watch the statement " results admit of more than One" (C) Learning whether a certain predictive strategy is good requires knowing the result using that strategy through several trials. well it provides the impetus that there are sevelal possible methods for obtaining the results . But reading between the lines it cast a doubt whether this means several results or merely means senveral methods. In case it points to the several methods then resuts can be same or not. (D) Distinguishing a correct prediction and effective action from an incorrect prediction and ineffective action is often impossible Yeah it correct captures the doubt of the (C) that the results and final outcome are really uncertain to predict. I must admit its really the tough one ..........but given with the choice ......i would go with C and D D is more inclined as it points towards the results while C points towards the methodologies.................. |
