maverick08
An association of mathematics teachers has 1,260 members. Only 525 of these members cast votes in the election for president of the association. What percent of the total membership voted for the winning candidate if the winning candidate received 60 percent of the votes cast? (A) 75% (B) 58% © 42% (D) 34% (E) 25%
maverick08
Apologies guys! I posted this PS question in DS Section by mistake. But yes, looking for a solution. Thanks :).
ajayav
i got the answer as E. My calculation: Winning candidate got 60% of the votes cast. 525 members cast their votes. So the winning candidate got 0.6*525 = 315 votes. The question asks what percent of the total membership voted. 315/1260*100 = 25% I can't find any traps in the question. Maybe someone else will point it out... :)
