    Linear Equation DS (OG 12th)

In the xy-plane, the line with equation ax + by +c = 0 where a*b*c (not = 0), has slope 2/3. What is the value of b?

    1) a =4

    2) c = -6

    SPOILER: A

Please explain!! How do we deal with the second statement?

    IMO A

    Slope of St line m = a/b

State1: m and a is given, we can find b.
State2: c and m is given. we can not find a or b.

When equation of a straight line is ax +by +c =0

    Slope of the above line = m = - a/b

    Slope as given = 2/3

    A) a=4 , so using this we get
=> -4/b=2/3 from this we can get value of b.

    B) c=-6 ..from this we cant calculate anything.

Thus, only A used alone will give the answer.

    Hence A

    Thanks and regards,
    Vivek
