If 3 liters of water are added to the bucket when half full of water, the amount of water in the bucket will increase by 1/3rd. ( notice not total capacity)

Her bucket contains how many liters of water?

The part I don't understand is why they multiply
by 4/3 to ( 1/2 of capacity) - 1/2 c =3
4/3 is derived from original amount of water which is
X + 1/3 ( increase in water)= to get 4/3.

The amount of water will be 4/3rds of the new capacity, right?

But the amount of water is not known, shouldn't it be 4/3rd X. It's tough to see how you go from half full of water to 4/3rds of capacity

I think the answer is 12.

If 3 liters represents an increase of 1/3rd, then that means that there were 9 liters initially. Therefore, after adding 3 liters, the total will be 12.

I think ans is 18.


let x be the initial capacity , then x/2 + 3(added) = 1/3(x/2) + x/2 (as water level is increased).
