    Average mean

    If the average (arithmetic mean) of the assessed values of x houses is $212000 and the average of the assessed values of y other houses is $194000, what is the verage of the assessed values of the x+y houses?

    1) x+y = 36
    2) x =2y

    Are u sure answer is C. Am getting b

    sum of x houses is 212000 * x

    sum of y houses is 194000 * y

    so average is sum/total ==> 212000x + 194000y/(x + y)


    statment 1 x + y =36 is not sufficient to solve above
    statment 2 x = 2y. Is good enough to solve the above
