Exclamation simple question

hi guys, just a simple and seemingly obvious query here.

the course i am interested in states applicants need to score at min 80% percentile in quantitative section in gmat

does it imply that i need to score more than at least 80% (in the quantitative section) of overall candidates who took gmat as i do on the day itself??

GMAT percentile is given as percentile of ALL the students who have ever taken the GMAT. 80% is very different from 80th Percentile.
