unit of measurement

can i know if there is a need to know how to convert the units of measurement ?

i'v read somewhere candidates do not need to and the conversion will be given as part of the question if the units are different

however, some revision maths questions i've done ask for answer in different units of measurement ( yards and feet, pound and kilo) with no conversion given

Appreciate feedback on this

You are expected to do some basic numeric conversions.. test makers usually provide you if it is not obvious or something that is very American specific scale but you can't reply on them..
If I were you, I would learn all basic conversions so I won't be on mercy of test makers in my real GMAT..
