Math Question
What is the value of y?
(1) When y is multiplied by 6, the result is between 40 and 45. (2) When y is multiplied by 3, the result is between 19 and 23. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT SUFFICIENT OA is E Why isn't it D ? |

Because unless it is stated whether y is a fraction or an integer, there can be several possible values of y satisfying both the statements. Hence they together are not sufficient
