Q

Is the point (2,-4) on the line 2x+7y=1?
1) The point is on the line ...
2) The point is on another line ...
Pl explain in detail........

This is a weird question in that you don't need statement 1) or 2) to answer it, the question stem itself gives the answer. All you need to do to see if a point is on the line is plug the given values in and see whether they satisfy the equation.

In this case, 2(2) + 7(-4) = -24 which does not equal 1, so the point doesn't lie on the line.
