    st.ment 1 doesn't give an exact value of x.. I hope u already know this...

    st.ment 2 says that abs. value of (x-3) is less than or equal to (-y). Now this means abs. value of (x-3) is less than or equal to 0..(question st.ment tells y is gr8er than or equal to 0)

    Since the abs. value of (x-3) can't be negative, it has to be 0. This implies x= 3.. So, st.ment 2 is sufficient.. and hence the answer is (b)..
