Repost: GMATPrep - Range and Inequality

I came across two problems that I am not clear about. Any explanations to the OA will be much appreciated.

#1 Are x and y both positive?
1. 2x-2y = 1
2. x/y > 1

OA:
SPOILER: C

#2 Attached
SPOILER: D

Thanks,
Cosmopolitan

1) refer to
http://www.urch.com/forums/gmat-data...-positive.html (Are x and y both positive...)

2) Range = 112 - 45 =67

X=56 After selling 20 X=36
Y=94 After Buying 24 Y= 118

New Range = 118 - 36 = 82
Difference in range = 82-67=15 (answer)(D)

Shouldn't new range be 118-36=72?
118 - 36 = 82.. I guess, there is a typo in Manish's soln.
