Tricky DS question

An attorney charged a fee for estate planning services for a certain estate. The attorney fee was what percent of the accessed value of the estate?

1. The accessed value of the estate was $1.2 million
2. The attorney charged $2,400 for the estate planning services.

Hint: The answer is not C.

Can anyone explain why?

To find percentage, you need part and whole.
Here, part = fees
whole = accessed value
1&2 provide both. So, it should be C.
How do you know it's not C?

Hey Guys,

I know that the answer is E. This problem isn't very fair since it requires you to know what Assessed means in estate terminology.

For an estate, you have Actual and Assessed Values. The 2400 he charged was most likely a percentage of the total value of the estate.. not just the assessed.

It does seems unfair. But I have come across a few questions where the GMAT questions carefully repeat the exact phrases, word by word.
So my take is be careful with the sentences and words used; if any of the words are different, beware..
