    Standard Deviation VI

    Hi All

    • Which of the following data sets has the smallest standard deviation?
    a)31,32,32,30,30,25,33,28 A
    b)35,38,38,32,30,17,40,25
    c)37,41,41,33,31,12,43,24
    d)38,44,44,34,31,8,46,23
    e)33,35,35,31,30,21,36,27

    The answer is A - is there someone who knows a 10 sec. way?

    look at the range : 25-32, 17-40, 12-43, 8-46, 21-36 for a,b,c,d,e
    go for teh smallest one when mean are kind of same and # of data elements are kind of same
